La Plata Youth Services Relocation Campaign
Please HELP US move to our NEW LOCATION so that we can continue to provide critical and impactful services to our community’s youth.
La Plata Youth Services provides advocacy and support for youth facing challenges in school, home, or court.
• Founded in 1994 to provide a continuum of
services to at-risk youth and their families.
• Designated in 2001 to manage all youth diversion
cases in La Plata County.
• In 2006 began offering case management as an
alternative to truancy court filings.
• In 2013 spearheaded the formation of a
collaborative (CMP) to identify, evaluate, and
serve chronically absent and at-risk students.
• In 2016 worked with 391 youth in La Plata County
and received the Durango Chamber of Commerce
“Non-Profit of the Year” Award.
We will be moving from our existing 800 square foot facility to a 2,200 square foot facility on the Main Avenue corridor, adjacent to Durango High School.
A lease agreement between LPYS and La Plata County was formally adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, August 8th! Over the next two months, contractors will make adjustments to the building including ADA and fire code modifications, installing an alarm system, wiring the office, etc. We will plan to assume occupancy on October 9th.
